Is it Buffelsbaai, Buffels Bay or Buffalo Bay?
They are all the same village. Buffelsbaai is the name most South Africans use, and Buffels Bay and Buffalo Bay are what you'll see in English and on some maps. It's a small seaside village on the Garden Route, between Sedgefield and Knysna.
How many people does Knot 4 Sail sleep?
Up to 6 adults and 3 children under 12, in 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. Main bedroom: queen bed, opens onto the sea-view deck. Family room: double bed, plus a day bed behind a screen for one child. Third bedroom: double bed. Fourth bedroom: two single beds.
How far is Buffelsbaai from Knysna, George airport and Cape Town?
Knysna: about 21 km, 35 minutes' drive. Sedgefield: about 23 km, 35 minutes' drive. Plettenberg Bay: about 53 km, 1 hour 5 minutes' drive. George airport: about 65 km, 1 hour 10 minutes' drive. Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth): about 280 km, 3 hours 40 minutes' drive. Cape Town: about 490 km, 6 hours' drive.
How far is the beach?
About 3 minutes' walk to the main beach, and about 4 minutes to the beach on the wild side.
Is the beach safe for children?
The main beach curves in a half-moon that shelters it from strong currents, which makes it one of the safest beaches between Knysna and Sedgefield and a good one for children. There are two swimming beaches close by.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is between 14:00 and 19:00, and check-out is by 10:00. We send you the details for the keys before you arrive.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, prepaid Wi-Fi. Each booking includes 5 GB. If you need more, you can buy prepaid data through the router using the details provided in the house.
Can we bring our dog?
Pets are welcome on request. Please ask us before you book.
Where do we park?
Off the street: there's a driveway, and space on the verge in front of the house.
Are there stairs?
Yes, there are stairs at the entrance to the house. Please let us know before you book if anyone in your group may find them difficult.
What's in the kitchen?
Two fridges, a gas stove, an oven, a microwave and a dishwasher, so it's properly set up for self-catering. There's a braai on the deck.
Is cleaning included?
There's no cleaning service, so guests do a basic clean before they leave. Please don't leave dirty dishes. Linen and towels are provided. Read the house rules
Can we smoke?
Outside only. Please don't smoke inside the house.
How far ahead can we book?

How do we book and pay?
Send us an enquiry with your dates. We confirm availability and send you a quote. A 50% deposit by EFT within 2 days secures the booking, and the balance is due 2 weeks before you arrive. Booking directly with us means no booking-site fees. Send an enquiry
